Giving access to Google Play Console
In SiteCargo, open Distribution → Google Play → Connect. The default is “SiteCargo will set it up (recommended)”. Do not share your Google password, 2FA code, or private JSON keys.
Recommended: one invitation
- Find the specialist email in SiteCargo and use the copy button beside it. It is usually
publish@sitecargo.com; use the exact address shown. - Sign in to Google Play Console → Users and permissions.
- Click Invite new users and paste the email.
- Open Account permissions and enable Admin (all permissions). Use account-level access so the specialist can create the app and manage technical access. This grants access to all apps in the account.
- Click Invite user.
- Return to SiteCargo, select “I sent the invitation with Admin permissions”, and click “Save and Check” at the bottom. You do not need to enter Developer Account ID or invite the technical account yourself.
- Wait for our team: the specialist accepts the invitation, finds Developer Account ID, prepares the listing, and grants publishing permissions to SiteCargo's technical account. They then save the ID and run the automatic check in admin.
Until these steps are complete, “Invitation sent” means a pending request rather than verified API access. If Developer Account ID is already saved and the server technical account is configured, “Save and Check” checks that existing connection immediately. Developer Account ID cannot be automatically inferred from an email alone: our specialist finds it in Play Console for the first connection.
Manual setup with fewer permissions
Select “I will set it up with limited permissions” under “Who will set up the connection?”. The technical email and Developer Account ID field appear.
- Invite the specialist using the displayed email. Grant app information viewing, Manage store presence, app content permissions, Release to testing tracks, and Release to production, exclude devices, and use Play App Signing. Limit access to the relevant app where possible.
- If the app does not exist, create it yourself or agree with the team on account permissions needed to create it.
- Repeat the invitation for the technical account displayed in SiteCargo. Its email usually ends in
.iam.gserviceaccount.com. Copy the entire address and grant the required publishing permissions. You do not create your own key. The specialist email does not replace service account API access. - If the dialog says the technical account is not configured, contact SiteCargo: this is our server configuration, not a request for you to create a key or fix environment settings.
- Find Developer Account ID in account details or the Play Console URL after
/developers/. Enter digits only, between 6 and 30. This is not the package name or payment profile ID. - Click “Save and Check”. This verifies the technical account; the specialist accepts their invitation separately.
Changing the SiteCargo switch does not change Google permissions. To remove Admin or limit access, edit the user in Play Console → Users and permissions, tell our team, and run the check again. Google permission definitions.
Buttons and verification
Apple and Google dialogs use the same layout: header at the top, scrollable content in the middle, and “Close” and “Save and Check” always at the bottom. Saving an invitation does not publish the app. The automatic check verifies access and production release permissions; it does not confirm every store setting, agreement, or completed owner verification.
Check again from the Google card after changing permissions. See connection statuses. Registration, account verification, payments, agreements, tax information, and banking details remain the owner's responsibility.
For the SiteCargo specialist
- Accept the invitation with the work specialist email and verify account-level Admin permissions.
- Find the customer's Developer Account ID and match the listing to the Android package name in admin.
- Add the configured SiteCargo service account in Play Console and grant publishing permissions. Do not request the customer's JSON key.
- Open SiteCargo → Admin → Builds → the release → Store accounts → Google Play, enter Developer Account ID, and click Save and Check. The customer's assisted setup preference is preserved.
- If the technical email is missing, the server administrator configures
GOOGLE_PLAY_SERVICE_ACCOUNT_EMAILand the matching SiteCargo key. Customer invitations can be saved before this is configured, but automatic verification is unavailable. - On error, check the ID, email, API, and permissions. Do not manually mark Connected without verification.
